After three and a half incredible years, the time has come to hitch up the caravan. I’ve made the bittersweet decision to step away from my role as Head of Production at Screenwest to take an extended Australian road trip with my family.

It’s been an inspiring and rewarding journey. When I look back at what we’ve achieved together, I feel an immense sense of pride. The past few years have seen the WA screen industry reach record growth, driven in large part by the incredible talent and passion of everyone here. I’m proud to have helped implement the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive and to have played a part in establishing the Documentary Production Fund and Digital Games Fund, helping to diversify our sector in ways we’ve never seen before.

I’m leaving knowing that the industry is in a fantastic place. With the new studio set to open and an unprecedented number of projects in the pipeline—including The Twelve Seasons 2 and 3, The Surfer, Ghosts Australia, and many more – I genuinely believe this is a wonderful time for our local cast and crew to shine.

While it’s sad to leave with so much still to come, I’m unbelievably excited for this new adventure. My family and I are hitting the road to experience all this country has to offer. This isn’t a break from my passion, but a chance to be fully present for a different kind of journey.

For the Veerhuis Pictures family, this is just a new chapter. I’ll continue to be a vocal advocate for our vibrant WA screen industry and look forward to working with producers, both in Australia and internationally, once my time on the road winds down.

To all the agencies, studios, producers, and crew who’ve made my time at Screenwest so memorable, thank you. I can’t wait to see what you all create next.
